So this week the interwebs have been full of how The Susan G. Komen organization, who’s mission it is to end breast cancer, would no longer be funding Planned Parenthood.
The outrage has been overwhelming. People on twitter are calling for various organizations to stop support the Komen Race for the Cure.
I have seen people coming out with tweets saying people who didn’t support Planned Parenthood are anti-women, anti-choice.
Now let me say, I was applauding the Komen Organizations decision; I was sad to see them backpedal and say they will continue to support three Planned Parenthood places.
I have wanted to support the Komen Race for the Cure, but I cannot support Planned Parenthood. I have come to learn that some of what the offer is good, but they also offer, promote and support abortion, the loss of innocent lives. I cannot support that.
But what I don’t understand is, why are people upset that a Charitable organization is not giving money to another organization? If you want to give money to Planned Parenthood, do it. Why do you first have to give the money to the Susan G. Komen Foundation? If you believe in Planned Parenthood’s mission and goals, give to them. ‘
What I also don’t understand is why is it okay for others to call me anti-women and anti-choice if I do not support planned parenthood? I am not anti-women. I am pro supporting women through every facet of choosing life. I don’t spend my time protesting at abortion clinics, rather I spend my resources supporting a Pregnancy Center that offers free pregnancy tests, parenting courses, counseling and material support. I support women in the choice of raising their babies or giving the gift of adoption.
Trust me, in these things I am very pro-women and pro-choice.
