The Random in My Head

Things are still pretty good in my head.  I am able to control my emotions the vast majority of the time.  My sleep is a little disrupted, but I have no other signs of hypomania.

Life is good.

I joined a 40 bags in 40 days decluttering project. The premise is to go through  your home and recycle, trash, donate or sell unneeded items in order to get the clutter out of the house during Lent.  It is broken down into daily goals, I have a chart that says where I plan to clean each day.  I have another (sticker) chart to represent each bag that leaves my house.  This type of project is right up my alley.  Yesterday, I emptied a bag of stuff taken out of the minivan before we turned it in, and the two boxes of stuff I brought home from work when I was laid off.  Then as a bonus,  the girls couldn’t find a game piece yesterday, so Caitlyn dug through the closet to find it.  She had to take just about everything out but she got it.  I told her I would finish up.  I took the rest out and even swept before choosing what went back in.  Then I looked at Patrice’s room while daddy had the girls as church.  Oh man.  So it got cleaned.  And swept.  All in all I ended up with garbage bags of stuff in the trash.  Today was simpler since we will be at co-op all afternoon.  I got rid of a bag of clothes out of my closet.  There is more to go (maternity), but one bag down.

(Can’t figure out why that link isn’t working, it is a direct copy from the website.  Maybe try cutting and pasting it?)

I am also doing another fitness challenge.  The last one was “just” planking.  This one is planking, push ups and squats.  My thighs are calling me names, mean, bad names.  But I am doing it.  Gotta do SOMETHING…

We made two Dr. Seuss projects yesterday.  We made Cat in the Hat Fruit Kabobs (strawberries and bananas) and cat in the hat hats with oreo cookies and gummy lifesavers.  The big girls were excited to be able to take them to Pioneer Girls last night as a treat.  I didn’t have enough for Patrice to take so now I have to think of something for her next week…

I still have a bunch of Junie B Jones Books for sale.  Sue really wants to raise money for those in the homeless community.

We’ve sold one copy of the Stupid Stinky Bus and a Peep in Her Pocket.  (To the family members who gave them to us, we so appreciate it and have enjoyed them, but they are ready for a new home and this is one way for a little girl to raise money).

And Apparently, this homeschooling experiment has been a success.  I have volunteered to teach a course at our homeschool co-op next year and hubby is all for it.  I have also found a few curriculum items used at great prices.

Well, I better run, it’s time to finish up lunches to eat on our way to co-op (Caitlyn made the sandwiches)…and then we are off for gym class, Native American Culture, Drawing Animals, Curious George (for which we are taking Mangoes as a snack), Bible Heroes and preschool.

Oh wait, have you checked out our business website yet?  www.closetryplus.wix.com/closetryplus.  You can also find us on Facebook–Closetry.

NOW, we’re off.

Several Random Posts Put Together

I didn’t have a chance to pop in Tuesday and show off my work getting an area organized, but I did do something 🙂 And shocked my hubby in the process by cleaning off the staircase up to our room. Putting stuff on the steps is a bad habit I developed growing up. It drove my dad nuts and now drives my husband nuts. Is that what “they” mean when “they” say girls look for someone like their daddy to marry?

Well regardless, here they are, our clean steps.  (so be honest, how many of you just turned your head sideways to look at them?)

How is Body after Baby Morphed going?  Pretty well.  I have continued to do the 30 Day Shred and even ran one night too!!!  I missed working out last night and am totally feeling it today…I gotta get down there and workout.  Tomorrow I am going to move my workout OUTDOORS.  I am going to try cross country skiing for the first time in roughly 20 years.  I lost much of my balance when the Multiple Sclerosis got bad.  With it went skiing.  Now mind, I had not done a lot of it, just once or twice, but I had enjoyed it.  For some reason it is something I really missed and am now feeling confident enough to try it again.  One of our local parks, Independence Oaks, is offering a two hour ski lesson and ski rental for $10.  And my wonderful hubby is going to keep the three kidlets while mama heads out.  He doesn’t mind me heading out, but he sure is bummed he is not going to see my adventure.

What about 5 Question Friday?  Okay, you asked for it, here it is.

1. What movie could you watch over and over again and not get tired of?

Steel Magnolias, Fried Green Tomatoes, Back to the Future and Three Men and a Baby
Guess I don’t feel like narrowing things down today.

2. What’s your biggest pet peeve right now?

Hearing my child say “I don’t like that.”  So now they have to say, “I don’t prefer that.”  Same obnoxious thought when they are rejecting dinner, but it sounds cute when they say such big words.

3. If you had to describe your best friend in five words or less, what would you say?

Does my hubby count?  A funny, sweet, strong, smart companion.

4. If you did not have to worry about money or go to school what would you do for a living?

Either a stay-at-home mom or a midwife.

5. What is your one “splurge” item, that you will always buy, no matter the cost?

Diet Coke!  I considered giving it up last week.  Then I woke up.  The only time I ever gave it up was at the end of my pregnancy with Patrice when she kept going breech.  I thought maybe the caffeine was making her too hyper.  So I gave it up for about 2 weeks.  We brought some with us to the birthing center so I could have one right after she was born!

And what would be a post without mentioning my wonderful midwife?  I saw her yesterday and she was as always her wonderfully encouraging self.  I am so thankful for her investment in our family.

Okay, I thing this post has been the epitome of randomness…now back to your regularly scheduled weekend…

Decluttering Week 2

Photobucket

The difference may not seem huge, but I have to say, getting ready for a blog post was very motivating when it came to cleaning our junk drawer.  It still has a fair amount in it (I think we are pen and pencil hoarders) but it is much better shape.  Why?  Because I said I was going to post about it on Tuesday!!!  And well, it  Tuesday!!  Here she is…the cleaned up junk drawer…

Here is another great organizing site!

Declutter January to February–Post 1

I might need a support group here. Is there a 12 Step program for blog hop junkies??? Yup, I found another one. I find them motivational. They give me ideas of things to do that I might not otherwise tackle. This time I found one for organizing areas on the home.

I don’t have any one room that is over run, but I do have areas in most rooms that needs attention.  One is our craft/project closet.  It is a mess, but we have a plan.  My ever talented hubby is going to make a “closet-system” for it.  In the meantime, I think I will go through and toss out things that are missing pieces.  But for today, I shall just give you the before pictures.

Then I will get myself linked up to the hop for my first entry in the contest!!!  Wish me luck both with the organizing and the contest!

Might as well include the junk drawer.  I finally got my hubby resigned to having one, but oh he would be thrilled if I cleaned it out!
*I think I will shoot for a progress update on Tuesday of each week, but it might just pop in and scare you!
