Our Giggles & Grimaces
A place to share the joys and challenges of our little, but growing, family. Life with three girls, ages 14, 12 and 10 years old, is a joy most of the time. But, there are challenges to every life and this is my place to share some of that.Midwifery Support

Our Gobble Greeting
Posted in #nablopomo, Thanksgiving
There is a Flock of Turkeys in my House
I set the girls with a project to do today in preparation for Thanksgiving
and the 23 people my SIL will host at her house.
To make these into 23 turkeys!!
Caitlyn kept tally of all the parts and pieces the girls needed to cut out to make our cute little buddies and they all assembled the little gobblers!

We Don’t Skip Thanksgiving Here
Sue has a November Birthday. It often falls very close to Thanksgiving. She gets really perturbed that the stores go right from Halloween to Christmas. Where is Thanksgiving people?! I knew this craft just had to be hers when I saw it.
That’s right folks, a gingerbread turkey.
Peace and Joy from my family to yours in these days we face.

A Rough Week
This happened last Saturday when a jerk rear ended our camper. We are all okay, but as you can see, the camper rolled and did not fair well.Hubby was able to find all my meds expect one, so I abruptly came off that one. I was in the process of starting another one, so have done alright, but the nausea from the new medication is really kicking my butt.
Are you hitting any rough patches in these days of thankfulness?

Today I Say…
Thank you.
Thank you Lord for another year. Some days have been easy. Most have been hard, but the fact that I am typing this means I got through every moment I was sure I couldn’t survive.
Thank you for little girls who fall fast asleep and keep holding on to the iPad.
Thank you for creative girls that see a picture of The Mona Lisa and say, “I can do that” and do.
Thank you for a friend passing on this book and inviting me to pray through the Psalms. It has brought me to a place of prayer without feeling guilty for only asking you for things as if you were Santa Claus.
Thank you for this smile I get from running. Many days are hard, but no matter what, if I get my exercise on, I get to smile. Thank you for the weight I have started to lose and the inches that are gone.
Thank you for the beautiful seasons of color you give us.
Thank you for the opportunity to reach others who are struggling through Project Semicolon.
And thank you for the husband and children you have given me. They bring me through so much.
Finally, thank you Lord for your faithfulness through the years. It has been an amazing 30 year ride since I first invited you in to my life. Many, many times I have doubted you, but you never gave up on me. Thank you for carrying me.

Growing a Tree
We started growing a tree today.
In the Living Room.
It’s our thankful tree. Each day we are going to write things on leaves for which we are thankful.
Next step is to write our thanks on them and put them on the tree every day until Thanksgiving.
I have much to be thankful for, but here is one I shared on Facebook and want to elaborate on here.
Today is one year since I unexpectedly became a stay-at-home mom when my job, for all intents and purposes, was eliminated. It was a welcome, albeit challenging, transition.
I didn’t know what to do with myself. And due to car issues, I was not only stay-at-home, I was ALWAYS stay-at-home.
Suddenly I was Patrices’ whole world. I changed the diapers, I decided how much tv she watched and what she ate. THAT PART? WAS AWESOME.
Slowly, all of it was awesome. A lot of the anxiety I had dealt with since Patrice was born, was gone or reduced. Life was so uncertain, but so much easier to bear.
It’s been a good year. Now am I not only home, but so our the girls as we have taken on homeschooling.
And it is beautiful, and for this I am so very thankful.
I think I should go add the first leaf.
The tree trunk is free hand, but the leaves are from a template at Live Craft Eat and can be found here.
