Last May I took the girls to a local Homeschool rollerskating party for the first time. It was their first time ever in a rink and/or on skates. And mama hadn’t been on skates in about 25 years. It was a slow go.
A painful one for me, but it just whet Sue and Caitlyn’s palette for more. The summer found all of the girls with their own skates–my favorite pair are the ones we were able to get secondhand, but I digress.
Fast forward to today. The girls and I went back to the Homeschool skate party and they were fantastic. They were amazing. Caitlyn came over and said, “these people are slow!!” Sue headed for the center of the rink where she could skate with less people around. Both could move in and out of the crowds, stop when necessary and skated very safely. They even started practicing going backward.
This mama is inordinately proud of their skills. They learned in a couple months skills I have not even begun to acquire, and won’t, in my life time. It is fun to watch them learning and growing all the time. So much fun!!!
The big girls even did the hokey pokey at the end. Patrice might have decided to hang out with me for part of it.
